3409425 - Error: "Failed to execute query... null object loaded from local variable 'universeForRefresh... [JRC00005575]" when refreshing a report based on an SAP BW Query in Crystal Reports for Enterprise, and in SAP BI LaunchPad

Symptom

  • Error when refreshing some report in SAP BI LaunchPad.
  • After upgrading the SAP BusinessObjects BI platform to the latest update, some report based on SAP BW Query fails to refresh.
  • In Crystal Reports for Enterprise, and in SAP BI LaunchPad, when refreshing a report based on an SAP BW Query, it fails with the error:

    "The viewer could not process an event. Failed to execute query: ‘while trying to invoke the method com.businessobjects.mds.universe.Universe.setIdentifier(java.lang.String) of a null object loaded from local
    variable 'universeForRefresh'' Redesign your query or contact the data source maintainer to solve the problem.
