3410641 - Modified location of an existing story is not updated in the target tenant when reimporting it via Content Network in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

A story exists in both the source and target tenants in the same location in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC). After changing its location in the source system and transporting it again to the target system (with the respective new location) using Content Network, the story will still be imported to the previous (original) folder/location.

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise) 2023.21.8

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Story exists in the same folder for both tenants.
  2. Changed location of the story in SAC source system.
  3. Export the story with the new location via Content storage.

  4. While importing the package to the target tenant, it’s showing the previous location with a warning "You cannot move XXXX as it already exists in this location." even with the import option "Overwrite objects and data".
  5. So as a result the imported story in the target tenant is in the original location not to the new one.

Cause

This is the expected behaviour.

Resolution

As long as the model or story exists on the target tenant, it will be updated regardless of which folder it exists in.

Therefore, in order to get the model/story in the desired location it is suggested to either move it manually to the required folder or delete it from the target tenant and then re-import it from the package that has appropriate hierarchical structure.

It would be a good idea, to create a copy and keep it as a backup in case if anything goes wrong.
