3411149 - Outdated Time Management Alerts of Type Import Time Sheet

There are Time Management Alerts for employees and dates where there are no erroneous External Time Data in the system anymore. These alerts stay in the system and are also shown in the Time Sheet UI for the respective dates.

If there is an External Time Data that ends in 'error' state and the External Time Data is hard deleted via MDF import or manually in Manage Data, then the alert becomes “orphaned” like described above and is subject to the issue.

The time sheet import background job and the instant import event are only processing periods and users where there are External Time Data that needs to be processed. Hence, if there is no External Time Data in the system anymore the period of the alert is not processed anymore and the alert is not updated.

How can the issue be avoided?

If there are External Time Data that results in status error and a subject for removal as the data was wrongly imported in the first place, then the “Delete this External Time” field on the object shall be used. By setting it to “Yes”, the import processes will pick up the user and period again. Remove the Data from the time sheet (if there is any due to the error) and also delete the External Time Data and the corresponding alert eventually.

Correction:

The issue can be corrected by manually delete all the orphaned import alerts via manage data or MDF import. If there were alerts deleted that were legit, the nightly import job run will pick up the corresponding External Time Data and recreate those alerts again. Hence, it is valid to delete all import alerts and no manual filter of legit alerts is necessary.

Future enhancement: The Engineering team is currently developing a solution to replace the existing time management alert in job processing. The aim is to ensure that all external time data for each employee is processed simultaneously.
