3411362 - Missing transaction logs although dump is complete - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • An ASE database cannot be recoverd due to missing transaction logs.
  • When checking the SID_BS.log, it shows dumps of transaction logs
  • The dumps failed, but still the process was accepted as complete with messages in BS log showing:
     
    Backup Server: 4.125.1.1: Archive API information for device='syb_tsm::<SID>.TRAN.20231010.061354.14667.000::000':
    Vendor application name=Sybase-TSM API, Library version=2, Message=Tivoli Storage Manager error returned.
    Message = ANS1302E (RC2)  No objects on server match query . 

    Backup Server: 3.42.1.1: DUMP is complete (database <SID>). 

  • When checking on TSM side, the transaction log with that name is missing:

    % dsmc q ba -ina -su=y "/<SID>/*" | grep -i TRAN | grep -i 14666API 75,497,471 KB  2023.10.10 05:41:35 DBASB000 A /<SID>/<SID>.XACT/<SID>.TRAN.20231010.054135.14666.000.0

    % dsmc q ba -ina -su=y "/<SID>/*" | grep -i TRAN | grep -i 14668API 75,497,471 KB  2023.10.10 06:59:01 DBASB000 A  /<SID>/<SID>.XACT/<SID>.TRAN.20231010.065901.14668.000.0
