Symptom
- When trying to migrate a classic account model to new model type, the following warning message is shown:
"Migrate Classic Account Model to New Model Type could affect dependent objects. This action cannot be undone.Learn More"
- The warning appears when the model has dependent objects.
Environment
SAP Analytics Cloud.
Reproducing the Issue
- Open a classic account model.
- Click Edit->Migrate to New Model Type,
>>Notice the below warning message: "Migrate Classic Account Model to New Model Type could affect dependent objects. This action cannot be undone. Learn More "
Cause
- By design behavior.
- Migration from classic to new model is not possible when it has dependent objects (model referenced in any story, analytic application, data action or data Analyzer).
Resolution
No resolution as it is by design behavior.
Possible workaround for Optimized stories:
- Create a copy of the Classic model.
- Convert the copied classic model to new model.
- Repoint the dependent Optimized Stories to the New model following the steps bellow: Replace a Model in the Optimized (Unified) Experience
