Symptom
- How to disable the option of upload from Manage Journal Entries - New Version application?
- Is it possible to put Write Restrictions on the app "Upload General Journal Entries" but not set restrictions on app "Manage Journal Entries"?
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud
Resolution
The designated business catalog for General Ledger - Journal Entry Processing is SAP_FIN_BC_GL_JE_PROC_PC. This catalog facilitates users in entering and overseeing general journal entries through both the "Upload General Journal Entries" and "Manage Journal Entries" applications.
It is crucial to understand that restrictions cannot be directly applied to individual apps; however, they can be configured at the user level based on the associated business role. Consequently, any restriction implemented at the business role level will have a uniform impact on both the "Manage Journal Entries" and "Upload General Journal Entries" applications.
For instance, consider the creation of Business Roles 1 and 2, both incorporating the same business catalog. The default access category for a newly created role is set to "No Access," implying a complete absence of write authorizations. In Business Role 1, the access level for Write/Read/Value Help is maintained as "No Access." Conversely, in Business Role 2, an "Unrestricted" access level is chosen for Write/Read/Value Help Access. By assigning these distinct business roles to different users, a controlled access environment is established. Users assigned Business Role 1 will be restricted from entering and managing Journal Entries, whereas those assigned Business Role 2 will have the authorization to perform these actions.
