3414373 - Internal and External Users see Different Search Criteria for Observers

Symptom

In b2311 new course home, users with internal shopping account type can not use search criteria when searching for task observers. While users with external shopping account type can see a pop up window and use multiple filters.

Internal users may see Observers with similar names when searching.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Learning

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login as a user with internal shopping account and go to My Learning
  2. Click 'Request Observers' for an assigned Task
  3. There is a search box and no filter is available
  4. Switch to a user with external shopping account and go to My Learning
  5. Click 'Request Observers' and on the next screen click 'Add Observers'
  6. Note a new window pops up and multiple filters are available: user ID, display name, last name, first name, job code, organizations, email address

External:

    Cause

As confirmed by PM, this is expected behavior.

The New Course Home Experience does not apply to users with external shopping account hence the different behavior.

    Resolution

For Internal user, the search for Observer only searches by user ID, first name, middle name and last name.

However, if this setting below in Learning Administration> System Administration> Configuration> SEARCH configuration file is set to true, then search results will be limited to the same Org as of the user.

    • restrictUserPeerSearchByOrg=true
