3415181 - SAC Tunnel connection to S4HANA does not work due to misconfigured RFC Destination (t-code /IWFND/ROUTING)

An existing (or new) Tunnel connection to S4HANA On-Premise system does not work, throwing the error message:

• Unable to authenticate. Please ensure you credentials are valid.

You already ensured that connection info follows prerequisites and steps from Live Data Connection to SAP S/4HANA On-Premise Using a Tunnel Connection | SAP Help Portal  

• When accessing https://<Your_ABAP_Server>/sap/bw/ina/GetServerInfo?sap-client=<Your_Client_ID>, faced below error

  "Messages":[{"Type": 2, "MessageClass": "BW_BICS_INA", "Number":56,"Text": "RFC destination <RFC_DEST> not working. Error code 5","ExceptionClass":"CX_BICS_INA_RFC_ERROR", "OlapMessageClass":0}]

SAP Analytics Cloud 2023.21.13

1. Go to SAC tenant
2. Edit and existing connection or create a new one (Tunnel to S4HANA)
3. Put backend user credentials (these should work fine when directly accessing the backend system)
4. Click Ok and receive the error message (Invalid Credentials)

• When accessing https://<Your_ABAP_Server>/sap/bw/ina/GetServerInfo?sap-client=<Your_Client_ID>, faced below error

  "Messages":[{"Type": 2, "MessageClass": "BW_BICS_INA", "Number":56,"Text": "RFC destination <RFC_DEST> not working. Error code 5","ExceptionClass":"CX_BICS_INA_RFC_ERROR", "OlapMessageClass":0}]

There may be a misconfiguration with RFC Destination in "Gateway Routing Configuration" (/IWFND/ROUTING) 

If the System Alias has an RFC Destination pointing to itself, SAC connection will not work

Set the RFC Destination to NONE, and the Tunnel Connection will start working again.
