Symptom
When you try to create a new Customer Group via Business configuration it specifies you must use one of the prefixes V,W,X,Y,Z.
But you have used all of those alphabetic prefixes and numerical from 1-9 and it won't allow you to use two digit numbers. (i.e.., two digit numerical or alphanumeric)
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign.
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Business Configuration work center.
- Go to Overview sub view.
- Search for the Customer Groups activity.
- click maintain Customer groups.
- Try to give Add row and enter Z10 (Alphanumeric), you will face the error message.
"Enter a value with no more than 2 characters".
Cause
If you try to give three digits like *Z10*, then system will throw the error as "Enter a value with no more than 2 characters."
Here system won't take Customer group activity with three digits as alphanumeric values.
Resolution
The system is behaving as expected. It is pre-defined custom configuration where you can't exceed the digit value above 2 for the Customer group.
If you want to create more Customer groups with new custom ID's via Business Configuration, you can also use a pair of letters.
For example,
- XA,XB,XC to .......XX
- YA,YB,YC to .......YY
- ZA,ZB,ZC to .......ZZ
In addition, special characters can also be used, such as !, ?, # etc...
For example,
V1, V?, V#
Now it is possible to create and save a more number of Customer groups with new custom ID's without any error.
