Assigning Party ID Types to Companies (Mandatory) | SAP Help Portal
In the context of the Peppol Exchange Network, a Participant ID refers to a unique identifier assigned to an organization or entity that is part of the Peppol network. Peppol (Pan-European Public Procurement Online) is an international e-procurement network that enables businesses to exchange electronic documents, such as invoices and purchase orders, in a standardized and secure manner.
The Participant ID is used to identify and differentiate each participant within the Peppol network. It is typically a combination of numbers and letters and is assigned by the Peppol Authority or a certified Peppol Access Point provider.
The Participant ID plays a crucial role in facilitating the exchange of electronic documents between Peppol participants. When a participant wants to send a document to another participant, they use the Participant ID to address the document correctly. The Peppol infrastructure ensures that the document is securely delivered to the intended recipient based on their Participant ID.
By using Participant IDs, Peppol enables seamless and standardized electronic document exchange across different organizations and countries, reducing the complexity and costs associated with traditional paper-based processes.
The Participant ID Prefix is a code that identifies the country or region of a participant within the network. It is used to ensure that messages are routed correctly to the intended recipient.
The Participant ID Prefix consists of two parts: the country code and the scheme code. The country code represents the country or region, while the scheme code represents the specific scheme or standard being used.
As an example, DE:VAT is a Participant ID Prefix that represents a participant from Germany using the VAT scheme. "DE" is the country code for Germany, and "VAT" is the scheme code for the Value Added Tax (VAT) scheme. This prefix would be used to identify a German participant involved in VAT-related transactions within the Peppol.
Note that in the Participant App in the Master Data section, only your own Sender ID will be registered.
