3417189 - Which Type of User to Use While Working With API in SAP Sales Cloud and Service Cloud Version 2

Symptom

You want to consume the REST API offered by SAP Sales Cloud and Service Cloud version 2

Resolution

There are two types of users in SAP Sales Cloud and Service Cloud version 2.

  1. Business User : Business Users are created for existing Employees so that they can login to the tenant and perform necessary actions. Business Roles can be assigned to these business users according to their job role. Business roles can be customized according to Business needs.

  2. Technical User : Technical Users cannot be created manually. Initial User which is offered during the tenant provision is automatically created with default business role which cannot be edited. Creating a communication system and adding user credentials to it also creates a technical user with default business role which again cannot be edited. These technical users due to their limited access cannot be used to consume the APIs offered by SAP.

As of now, you can consume the APIs using the Business users only.
