3418388 - Error: "Logon failed" when using an OData connection in Crystal Reports 2020 - Support Pack 03 and higher

Symptom

  • Error: 'Logon failed."
  • When attemptying to connect the sample OData source in Crystal Reports 2020 with Support Pack 03, or higher, with no authentication required, it fails with the error:

       "Logon failed.
        Details: https://services.odata.org/V4/Northwind/Northwind.svc/$metadata"

    Note: The URL above is a Public sample OData service.
      
  • In Crystal Reports 2020 with Support Pack 02, can successfully connect to the same OData source.

Environment

  • SAP Crystal Reports 2020 - Support Pack 03, and higher

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Start Crystal Reports 2020 with Support Pack 03, or higher.

  2. Create a new report.

  3. In the Database Expert, expand: "Create New Connection"

  4. Double click on: "OData"

  5. In "OData", enter the Service root URL. For example, enter the Northwind sample data source:
      
    https://services.odata.org/V4/Northwind/Northwind.svc/
      
  6. Click: "Finish"
       
  7. Crystal Reports display the error: "Logon failed."

Cause

  • Product defect.

Resolution

  • The issue is resolved in the following product update, and above:
       
    • Crystal Reports 2020 - Support Pack 04 - Patch 6
