3418746 - Recommended Links Displayed Only in English for New Hires - Onboarding

Symptom

When a new employee logs into the SF onboarding system and their language settings are set to German, the recommended links are displayed in English instead of the translated versions that are available in the onboarding program for German (or any other language)

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login as candidate
  2. Check the recommended links are not translated based on candidate's locale

There are three ways to define a Recommended Link in the Task:

  1. From 'Manage Onboarding and Offboarding Tasks': Setup the Onboarding Program, including the Recommended Link Task. Define links and set their localization, with different text for different languages. For example, a link titled 'Default Link' in English (en_US) and 'Standardlink' in German (de_DE). The displayed title depends on the locale.

  2. Submitting a New Link: While completing the Recommended Link Task, a new link with any text and locale can be submitted.

  3. Reusing Previous Links: Previously posted links from other task completions can be submitted. The title remains the same as previously posted.

Cause

The locale of the recommended link task does not depend on the locale of the new hire , but the locale of the user who posted/completed the task.

Upon opening the Recommended Link Task, the Hiring Manager sees link suggestions based on the above three points. The Hiring Manager's locale only affects links from the first point. Once the task is completed, the new hire sees the link with the title posted by the Hiring Manager, regardless of the new hire's locale.

Resolution

  • This will be an expected behavior if for those who posted/completed the recommended link is from en-US locale and configured this activity in en-US text. Once it is posted we cannot switch text to another language
  • Ensure before posting that text is displaying the desired language.
  • For example, if links were previously posted in German, they will appear in German as suggestions for future candidates, even if the language is switched to English. They will only appear in English if reconfigured under 'Manage Onboarding and Offboarding Tasks' with the English locale, matching the current locale.
  • An enhancement request has been created for this behaviour. If you would like, you may add your vote to support it.
