Symptom

Running Backup Catalog Housekeeping SQL Statement "BACKUP CATALOG DELETE ALL BEFORE BACKUP_ID xxxxxxx"

resulting into an Error like:

"Could not execute 'BACKUP CATALOG DELETE ALL BEFORE BACKUP_ID xxxxxxxx' in xxx minutes"

"SAP DBTech JDBC: [2]: general error: Backup error: Allocation failed ; $size$=96; $name$=BackupRecoveryAllocator; $type$=pool; $inuse_count$=297670991; $allocated_size$=75647403984; $failure_type$=STATEMENT_MEMORY_LIMIT; $failure_flag$="

Also this error could be come up: 
Could not fetch backup catalog
Reason: SAP DBTech JDBC: [4]: cannot allocate enough memory: OOM. please check traces for further information
