3419009 - Cannot Change Date Dimension Default Hierarchy in SAP Analytics Cloud

In SAP Analytics Cloud, the ability to change the default hierarchy of a date dimension is disabled.

SAP Analytics Cloud all versions

1. Open a SAP Analytics Cloud model and select the Model Structure workspace.
2. Select a Date dimension from the Dimensions list and click on the arrow to open the Properties Panel on the right hand side.
3. The Default Hierarchy options for the Date dimension are disabled.

• It is possible that Data Locking is enabled on the model. 
• This can be confirmed by selecting Model Preferences > Access and Privacy > Data Locking.

• When Data Locking is enabled on the model, it is not possible to change the default hierarchy of date dimensions.
• This feature is by-design, to prevent unwanted changes to the model.

• In order to change the default hierarchy option on a Date dimension, Data Locking would need to be removed.
• Note that any major change, such as this, should be given proper consideration prior to its implementation.
