Symptom
You noticed that when trying to filter a field in the report, the field is not accepting a value entered manually.
For example, you have the 'State (Account)' field and when you enter a value such as 'Berlin' and run the report, the related account is not found.
Environment
SAP Cloud for Customer
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the desired BO, for example, Business Analytics > Design Reports;
- Search for Account Details report;
- Select the 'state (account)' field;
- Manually enter a value for the field State for the account;
- Then run the report;
- Notice an error message.
Cause
This is the standard system behavior.
Wherever you have a field that is designed to receive Code and Value, you must use the code. This scenario applies to, for example, searching for reports on Selection screen.
For example, field 'City' is a Value field. Which means it only receives a value as "Berlin". But 'Country/Region' and 'State (Account)' are Code and Value fields.
Which means the Country/Region has, for example, the option DE - Germany, where 'DE' is the code and 'Germany' the value. The same is for 'State (Account)' field. It has, for example, the option '11 - Berlin', where '11' is the code and 'Berlin' the value.
Therefore, as the 'City' field is a Value field you can manually enter the city's name such as 'Berlin' and you will see the results, but for Code and Value fields as 'Country/Region' and 'State', when entering manually, you must use the code.
Resolution
SAP recommends using the value help button to select the field value as system automatically detects the code and value format and avoid mistakes. If you are manually inputting the value, you must search using the Code for fields that are designed to receive Code and Value.
