3420049 - Chart not showing legend for single dimension in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

  • No legend.
  • When there is multiple values, the chart displays a legend.
  • Unable to see legend in a chart when only a single dimension is present in SAP Analytics Cloud.

Environment

SAP analytics Cloud 2023.16.10

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In SAP Analytics Cloud, open a story that contains a chart.
  2. When viewing the story with multiple values, the chart legend displays.
  3. Filter the data to only display one dimension value.
  4. Notice there is no legend displaying for the chart when there is only one value.

Cause

Legend is not set to display for a single dimension value.

Resolution

Set the Legend to display for one value:

  1. In SAP Analytics Cloud, open the story in edit mode. 
  2. Ensure the chart data is filtered to only display one value, so it does not display the legend.
  3. Select the chart not displaying the Legend when there is only one value.
  4. In the upper right corner, click on the 3 dots.
  5. In the contextual menu, select "More Options > Show/Hide > Legend"  
    ( Ensure the Legend option is checked )
  6. Save the story.
