3422265 - Documents Displays "Skipped" Status In Print Queue

Symptom

The user has output documents that are displayed as "Skipped" in the Print Queue and wants to know if there is a way to notify the user when the documents are skipped.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Application and User Management workcenter
  2. Go to Print Queue view
  3. Select Print Queue ID: ABC
  4. Select Edit
  5. Navigate to Processed Documents

Observe some of the documents are in "Skipped" status.

Cause

Documents with "Skipped" status can occur for the following reasons:

  1. In case many people are sending the emails and outputs at the same time, causing an overflow in the queue.
  2. The print task is stuck in the printer spooler.

Resolution

Our recommendation is to follow the below steps:

  1. Process the documents in smaller batches.
  2. The button 'Reprint' will be enabled only if there is a document with status as 'Failed'. If you wish to reprint any document, please navigate to output history of the same document and can click the document hyperlink from there and a pdf will be displayed in separate window browser and the same can be printed.

Note: There's no feasibility to trigger the notification to the user when the documents are skipped as per the standard system behaviour.
