Symptom
The data in the query is not being updated when user click on Refresh All. It is only updated when deleted and it is reinserted on the workbook.
Environment
- SAP Analysis for Office
Reproducing the Issue
- Open workbook
- Change the query data (e.g. new posting of a transaction in SEM-BCS)
- Refresh the workbook
- Confirm no balances are displayed after the update
- Opening prompt screen also does not update the crosstab
Resolution
- On Analysis Design Panel go to Components tab
- Focus on Workbook and change the “Subsequent Refresh” from “Transaction Data Only” to “Log Off and Reconnect”
Find technical details on SAP Note 2269717 - "Refresh / Prompt does not show newest data" can help you show newest data on refresh.
- a Refresh Data (UI option in AO) fetches the latest transaction data, but already retrieved texts, attributes or other master data remains unchanged and are not updated
- a Reset of a Query fetches the latest data, similar as refresh no consistent update of master data or texts can be done
- a Restart of a Query: this is similar to Reset, but we keep the query view
- log off/on: this is the only available option for a consistant overall update
Note: the reporting query must be configured to read the latest data update, if e.g. it is configured to just read the latest green request, no data update happens in case of a yellow request or updates via a planning query.
