3422544 - Unable to adjust secure storage due to message "Could not open lockfile SSFS_SID.LCK" - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • trans.log shows below error message
    -----------------------------
    ERROR =>
    read_ssfs_record(): RSecSSFsGetRecord(DB_CONNECT/DEFAULT_DB_USER)1 :
    Record with key "DB_CONNECT/DEFAULT_DB_USER" not found in secure storage
    <-- Data file "\\WINDOWS_HOSTNAME\sapmnt\SID\SYS\global\security\rsecssfs\data\SSFS_SID.DAT"
    does not exist (this is not an error per se: a non-existing data file is a valid situation and treated equally as one without entries)
    <-- File "\\WINDOWS_HOSTNAME\sapmnt\SID\SYS\global\security\rsecssfs\data\SSFS_SID.DAT" cannot be opened in mode "rb":
    No such file or directory (errn...(truncated)
    -----------------------------
  • r3trans -d returns 0012
  • while trying to adjust secure storage for the missing key, below error shows up:
    rsecssfx put DB_CONNECT/DEFAULT_DB_USER SAPSR3 -plain
    Could not open lockfile "\\WINDOWS_HOSTNAME\sapmnt\SID\SYS\global\security\rsecssfs\data\SSFS_SID.LCK"; open()== 2 (No such file or directory)
  • removelock does not work either:
    rsecssfx removelock
    Could not open lockfile "\\WINDOWS_HOSTNAME\sapmnt\SID\SYS\global\security\rsecssfs\data\SSFS_SID.LCK"; open()== 2 (No such file or directory)
  • This is on windows OS, and the mentioned SSFS_SID.LCK file does not exist at the mentioned path
  • Below env settings are set:
    RSEC_SSFS_DATAPATH=\\WINDOWS_HOSTNAME\sapmnt\SID\SYS\global\security\rsecssfs\data
    RSEC_SSFS_KEYPATH=\\WINDOWS_HOSTNAME\sapmnt\SID\SYS\global\security\rsecssfs\key
