3423072 - Error message "Acct & &: Stmnt & opening bal.is not the same as stmnt & closing bal." - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

The error message "Acct & &: Stmnt & opening bal.is not the same as stmnt & closing bal." appears in app Manage Bank Messages, when the first bank statement payload from bank at the beginning of a new year is received. This error may appear in different house banks where the last bank statement number from the previous year is not the largest.

For example, in the picture below, the last bank statement number is 43 on November 2nd, 2023, but the largest bank statement number is 1294 on August 31st, 2023. The error "Acct & &: Stmnt 202400001 opening bal.is not the same as stmnt 202301294 closing bal." appears when the first bank statement payload from bank in 2024 is received.

The system compares the opening balance of bank statement number 1 in 2024 with the closing balance of the largest bank statement in 2023. This comparison only happens when the year changes.

For above example, the system compares the opening balance of bank statement 1 in 2024 with the closing balance of bank statement 1294 in 2023.

For above example:

1. Create a temporary bank statement with:
   • bank statement number: 1295 (which is larger than the largest bank statement number 1294 in 2023)
   • bank statement date: November 3rd, 2023 (which is later than the latest bank statement date of November 2nd, 2023)
   • opening balance: 86,324.20 USD (which equals the closing balance of the previous bank statement 1294 in 2023)
   • closing balance: xxx USD (which equals the opening balance of the next bank statement 1 in 2024)
2. Post the temporary bank statement 1295.
3. Manually import the payload file of bank statement 1 in 2024 again using app Manage Incoming Payment File.
4. Reverse the temporary bank statement 1295.
