3423785 - Diagonal labels for x-axis in Bar/Column chart is not applied in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

When setting the Axis Label Direction to "Diagonal" in a multiple measures vertical Bar/Column chart in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), the labels won't display on the diagonal, only on the horizontal for some dimensions. However it is displayed on the diagonal with other chart type, e.g. Line chart.

SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise) 2023.21.13

1. Create an Optimized Design Story and add a Bar/Column chart.
2. Add more than one measure and a dimension e.g. "Calendar Year/Month".
3. Set the Axis Label Direction to "Diagonal".
   ----> The labels are horizontal and not diagonal.
4. Change the dimension of the chart to e.g.  “Calendar Day”.
   ----> It is working and the labels are displayed on the diagonal.
5. Change the dimension back to "Calendar Year/Month" and the chart type to "Line".
   ----> It is working and the labels are displayed on the diagonal.

This is by design.

• Diagonal labels aren't supported when axis labels are grouped.
  Grouped labels show a divider (| - bar or pipe symbol) between the axis labels in the axis label area. The following examples are some situations where diagonal labels aren't supported:
  • A Bar/Column chart that has more than one measure and at least one dimension.
  • A Bar/Column chart that has multiple stacked dimensions.
  • A drilled Time dimension.
