3423887 - Error Message: 'Error in configuration for account 123' When Opening the Trial Balance Report

You are receiving an error while executing the Financial Statements Report (or) Trial Balance Report

Error in configuration for account 123. (Here 123 is G/L account id)

1. Go to the General Ledger work Center.
2. Go to the List view.
3. Search for Report: Trial Balance  (or) Financial Statement report.
4. Enter the required data.
5. Click Apply.
6. Error message shown: Error in configuration for account 123.

 

You cannot delete the G/L account from backend as the General Ledger Account is still shown under Trial Balance Report (or) under Journal entries. There are line items associated with the G/L account and deleting data from the chart of accounts would not delete data that has been created as part of a journal entry. Deletion of G/L account from the chart of accounts is basically removing it from being used again in future. 

 

You need to add the same G/L account with Account type in the Chart of account activity and you should mark the account for No postings allowed to remove the error from the reports.

you should really mark the account for No postings Allowed rather than delete it, as deleting it will have reporting implications.

You should follow the below steps to mark the account for No postings Allowed.

1. Go to the General Ledger work center.
2. Go to the General Ledger Accounts view.
3. Find the respective G/L Account and click Edit > Chart of Accounts.
4. Change the G/L Account Posting Block to 3 - No postings allowed.
5. Click Save.
