3426520 - Configuring attachment service authorizations: Document Type Permissions

Symptom

 Documents or Attachments may not be accessible post upgrade of 2402CE . This occurs in case if one of the  generic role:  SAP_BR_DESIGN_ENGINEER / generic catalogs SAP_PLM_BC_DIR_DISP_PC and SAP_PLM_BC_DIR_API_PC is part of the User role

Resolution

When using the role template SAP_BR_DESIGN_ENGINEER for general use case, it comes with a basic set of authorizations for document types AUT, SBO and SCR. If there is a requirement for specialized document types, the business catalogs of the respective applications needs to be added to the roles to gain the necessary authorizations (create, change and read).

Customers have to look for the catalogs according to their use cases and add it to the role being created and assigned to their users.

Example : If a customer requires the attachment service functionality within the application of Manage Documents, the role template to be used is SAP_BR_DESIGN_ENGINEER. The document types (AUT,SBO, SCR) is provided in this role, which should be sufficient to work with the attachment functionality. Hence, while creating their own roles, they should assign the associated catalog(s) within the role templates of SAP_BR_DESIGN_ENGINEER.

Similarly, if there is a need for the document type SL1 or SL9, one of the possible way is to assign or copy the role template of SAP_BR_PURCHASER to their user and check the relevant catalogs for determining the usage of these document types.
