Symptom
A sales document that is relevant for approval has been created or changed. The approval status of the sales document is 'In Approval', but no approval workflow is triggered.
In the workflow definition, a start condition such as "Sales order type is" or "Sales document type is" has been maintained and the value for this sales document type is added using the value help function. For example, when logged on in English, sales document types such as QT (Quotation), OR (Standard Order), or CQ (Quantity Contract) are selected. If an end user now logs on in a language other than English to create a sales document for approval, the workflow condition is not considered. The workflow will therefore not be triggered.
Environment
- Sales and Distribution (SD)
- SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition All versions
Cause
When the sales document type in the user language does not match the sales document type that was defined in the start condition processes, the workflow condition is not considered and the system cannot trigger a workflow. This is caused by the fact that sales document types are represented by language-dependent keys on the UI.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, maintain the start condition in the workflow definition without using the value help. Manually add the language-dependent keys for all sales document types for all languages in which users log on to the system.
To trigger the approval workflow for sales documents that should have been sent to an approver, please withdraw the approval request in the sales document, make a (dummy) change, and save the sales document.
