Symptom
The date format set from the profile setting do not impact the format in the data analyzer report
Environment
- SAP ANALYTICS CLOUD
Reproducing the Issue
- Open Data Analyzer
- Make change in the data format from the profile setting
-> Date formatting not reflecting as maintained in profile setting
Cause
The User Preference settings for Date Formatting and Time Formatting don't affect the formatting in data analyzer. However, it do impact the date/time displayed for user information.
Resolution
Changing the formatting in data analyzer from the profile setting requires making broader decisions about how to give users a consistent date format across different backends and data sources.
It's necessary to figure out where and how users or admins can set a unified date format for different scenarios.
E.g. in the SAC embedded scenario the SAC profile settings are not supported.
In addition it requires a new development how to provide textual date formats supported by the backend server to lift the limitation in the UI when users are searching and sorting members in the dialog.
It's recommended to maintain the default date format in your BW backend.
It could be an option to create an ABAP report running in the backend which automatically specifies the date format for an individual users.
