3428695 - SAC Data Action - Advanced Formula: CONFIG.HIERARCHY.INCLUDE_MEMBERS_NOT_IN_HIERARCHY not working

Symptom

  • The data action copies only datasets where the segment member is part of the hierarchy.
  • Using the setting CONFIG.HIERARCHY.INCLUDE_MEMBERS_NOT_IN_HIERARCHY, specifically due to the presence of a dataset with "Segment" = #, will not work as expected.
  • Error message is displayed in the advanced formulas: "Member not found".

Environment

  • SAP ANALYTICS CLOUD

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Set a tracepoint within the advanced formula step "Copy Data";
  2. Run the trace of the data action;
  3. The calculation scope shows that # was not included.

Or

  1. Open the Data Action
  2. Click on Advanced Formulas Step
  3. Click on Validate
  4. The following error message coming up: XXXX: Member YYY not found.

      Notation: (XXX - Dimension | YYY - Member)

    Cause

    The config setting "INCLUDE_MEMBERS_NOT_IN_HIERARCHY" only works on those dimension members that are included under the "Not in Hierarchy" node in the dimension. Whether this feature is enabled or not depends on the dimension setup. Moreover, if the dimension member is in an alternative hierarchy, this feature will not work.

    Resolution

    From the model change the value in the dimension in the menu "Empty Hierarchy Values" to "Group and show under "Not in Hierarchy.
