3429611 - The COUNT Aggregation operation in the Numeric Pointer function is counting zero values in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

The COUNT Aggregation operation in the Numeric Pointer function in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) is counting the zero values although the underlying SAP BW query (using live data model) is defined to suppress zero values, and the Zero Suppression property for the Numeric Pointer function is switched on.

SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise)

1. Login to SAC.
2. Create a story based on direct live data connection to SAP BW.
3. Insert a Numeric Point chart and create a COUNT aggregation e.g.:
   • Type: Aggregation
   • Operation: COUNT
   • Aggregation Dimension: Vendor
   • Measure: Total Amount
4. The Numeric Pointer function will displaying e.g. 232 vendors.
5. Insert a table based on the dimension Vendor.
6. Exporting the table result in SAC to Excel: e.g. 230 vendors displayed.
7. Difference of 2 vendors using Table function vs Numeric Pointer function in SAC. Same underlying BW query is used, and same filter has been applied.

• See below examples for Table and Chart:
  • Table: Here we have a measure and dimension and it displays 496 records since the values have a Null/Zero suppression at the query level. Here we try to query all the records and server after fetching all the records suppress the not values and return us the final data. In this case only 496 records are fetched. Now if we add the count calculation to the axis then it would fetch all the 498 records. If we place only the count calculation in the axis without any measure and dimension in the axis then it would display the value as 498(same as chart widget). When we do the calculation the server first calculates and then applies the suppression so 498 as value and not the other way around i.e. first suppress and then calculate which would give 496.
  • Chart: On chart we have the calculation only in the axis and it display 498. Here also the count calculation is calculated on the server like first calculate and then applies the suppression so 498 as value and not the other way around i.e. first suppress and then calculate which would give 496. If we place the dimension and measure on the chart without the calculation then the number of records fetched would be 496.
