Determination of source inventory failed for product
Inventory in logistics area not available
Determination of source inventory failed for product
Determination of source inventory failed for product

Identified stock for output product is mandatory; Save failed

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Production Control work center.
  2. Go to Production Order view and find relevant order ID
  3. Select and edit Production Order
  4. Choose Release Production Order option
  5. Above errors appears

Cause

The system requires a PRS (Product Specification) assigned to the output product, as identified stock for the output product is mandatory. However, the respective production order for the output product has a product specification ID assigned to it. Upon checking the bill of material, no PRS ID is assigned to the output product, even though it is PRS enabled in the master data.

Resolution

1. Cancel the production order and its production request.
2. Modify the Bill of Materials (BoM) by assigning the PRS ID to the output product.
3. Release the respective production model again.
4. Create a new production proposal and production request to incorporate the changes in the order.
