3432433 - Error when validating Google Big Query Connection in Datasphere

Symptom

The following error is generated when validating Google BigQuery connection in Datasphere : 

  • Connection "XXX" is valid, but not all features are available.
    - Data flows can’t be used because of errors in the connection.
    - Replication flows can’t be used because of errors in the connection.
    - Remote tables are enabled.
    Data Flows: Cause: Open request could not be performed due to error: ODBC call <SQLDriverConnect> for data source <> failed: <SQL submitted to database <> resulted in error <[Simba][BigQuery] (100) Error interacting with REST API: >. The SQL submitted is <SELECT 1>.>.
    Replication Flows: Cause: Open request could not be performed due to error: ODBC call <SQLDriverConnect> for data source <> failed: <SQL submitted to database <> resulted in error <[Simba][BigQuery] (100) Error interacting with REST API: >. The SQL submitted is <SELECT 1>.>.

Environment

  • SAP Datasphere

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Connections
  2. Select Google BigQuery connection
  3. Choose Validate

Resolution

  • Project ID has to meet Google standards : Creating and managing projects
  • In the connection details, the property Project must contain the Project ID and not the project name
