3435871 - Manage Domains show "In Use" set to "No" even though the domain is used in Enable Single Sender

Symptom

  • Manage Domains show "In Use" set to "No" when the domain is selected in Enable Single Sender
  • In case of subdomain selected in Enable Single Sender the "In Use" in Manage Domains will be set to "No"

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Manage Email Notification -> Manage Domains
  2. Click Add 
  3. Enter your subdomain, something like successfactors.example.com 
  4. Complete the setting in you DNS record
  5. Click Verify Now
  6. Now Enable Single Sender
  7. Enter Name + From Email +@ select domain successfactors.example.com
  8. Save
  9. Refresh the page
  10. Scroll down to Manage Domains and see that "In used" is still saying "No" for the entry successfactors.example.com

 

Resolution

  • This is expected as the Manage Domains only consider the domain, here "example.com" not the subdomain "successfactors.example.com"
  • When you select the subdomain in Enable Single Sender in Manage domains the "In Use" will be set to "No", however it does not impact domain verification nor e-mail delivery.

Note:

  • If you already added the subdomain "successfactors.example.com" in Manage Domains, you will not be able to add the domain "example.com" because Manage Domain only consider the domain, so it already exists. The Error will show "The domain example.com already exists."
  • If you add the domain "example.com" instead of the subdomain in Manage Domains, then when selected in Enable Single Sender it will reflect in Manage Domain with "In Use" set to "Yes"
