3438593 - Login Method displayed in Reset user password tool is different from the value set in UDF loginMethod field

Symptom

Value of loginMethod field in UDF is inconsistent with the value displayed in Reset User Password tool or Manage Login Account tool.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors HXM Core All versions

Reproducing the Issue

1. Go to Employee Export and export user's UDF file.

2. Verified that the loginMethod field in UDF file is PWD.

3. Go to Reset User Password tool or Manage Login Account tool and search for that user.

4. The login method displayed in Reset User Password tool or Manage Login Account tool is SSO.

Cause

This is expected behavior.

It is because SSO is enabled in this instance, however, partial SSO is disabled for SSO setting.

The loginMethod field in UDF will only be effective when partial SSO is enabled.

Resolution

The loginMethod field in UDF is the login method that admin designated to the users, but it is not eventually the actual login method when user tried to login.

The actual login method was the one displayed in Reset User Password tool or Manage Login Account tool. And the actual login method is affected by both SSO setting and loginMethod field value.

For example:

1. If SSO is disabled in Provisioning, then the actual login method for all users will always be PWD login.

The loginMethod field value in UDF will not be considered.

The login method shown in Reset User Password tool or Manage Login Account tool will be PWD.

2. If SSO is enabled in Provisioning, but Partial SSO is disabled for the SSO setting, then the actual login method for all users will always be SSO login.

The loginMethod field value in UDF will not be considered.

The login method shown in Reset User Password tool or Manage Login Account tool will be SSO.

3. If SSO is enabled in Provisioning, and Partial SSO is enabled for the SSO setting, then the actual login method for all users will be determined by their loginMethod value in UDF.

If loginMethod field value = SSO or blank, then the login method shown in Reset User Password tool or Manage Login Account tool will be SSO.

If loginMethod field value = PWD, then the login method shown in Reset User Password tool or Manage Login Account tool will be PWD.
