3442763 - Error: Field change Company Code / Cost Center "XXXXXX" is not possible (transaction data already exists)

You are getting error as "Field change Company Code / Cost Center "XXXXXX" is not possible (transaction data already exists)" while changing the Company Code from Manage Cost Center App.

Another possible error you can get is "Field change Currency Code / Cost Center "XXXXXX" is not possible (transaction data already exists)

SAP S/4HANA Cloud

1. Go to Manage Cost Centers app

2. Open & Edit the Cost Center

3. Change the Company Code

4. You will receive the error as

"Field change Company Code / Cost Center "XXXXXX" is not possible (transaction data already exists)"

To ensure the consistency of existing data, you can only change object Company Code / Cost Center, if no transaction data exists in the change period; that is, neither plan data nor actual data has been posted.

As transaction data already exists, it is not possible to change objects in this time period.

Company Code & Currency fields are Fiscal Year Dependent fields and in order to over come this error you need to create new validity period. You can follow the below steps accordingly.

1. Go to Manage Cost Center app

2. Open the Cost Center for which you want to change the Company Code & Currency

3. Click on Validity Periods & Click on New Validity Period 

4. In the new window enter the validity from and to date(make sure as the Company Code & Currency are Fiscal Year Dependent fields from data should be next year only ex: if you are in 2024 year and in the month Mar, new validity should be from Jan 2025 only) as shown in the screenshot

5. Click om Create 

6. Now, enter the different Company Code

7. Click on Create

As a result, you will be able to see 2 validity.

In the above screenshot you see we had validity starting from 01.01.2012 to unlimited and once we created new validity with different company code and currency new validity is started from 01.01.2025 to unlimited.
