Symptom
All workbook options are greyed out in SAC Excel add-in after logged into the system, as per screen shot below:
It might happen:
- For one specific user or all of them
- After sharing a file from one user to another
- For some workbooks and not all of them
Environment
- SAP Analytics Cloud, add-in for Microsoft Office
- SAP Analytics Cloud
Reproducing the Issue
- Open a workbook in SAC Excel Add-In
- Log into the required tenant
- All options (refresh, add table, remove table and so on...) will be greyed out
Cause
Missing permissions for the affected users
Resolution
There are some points to be considered when an user or a group of users is facing missing permissions issues, such as:
- If the affected user cannot see any options in SAC Excel Add-in after logged into the system, most likely this user has been assigned a ROLE that has only read rights defined in "Add-in Workbook" permission.
i.e.: VIEWER RIGHTS only. Please see the screenshot below as an example:
Assign permissions Create and Update in order to solve the issue.
This permission can be found in SAP Analytics Cloud page -> go to "Security" option in the left panel -> "Users" (to check other users - admin rights might be required for this option) or "Roles" (to check your own roles) and this option will be inside "BI Content...". -
If the affected user can see some workbooks and cannot see others, there are 2 possibilities for this situation:
• It’s a Legacy workbook: All the workbooks created before the release of Design/View feature are considered as legacy workbook and all the users have full access to such workbooks
• Designer have provided full access to the workbook to all other users
