3446837 - Commit tran issue in SAP ASE SP04 PL05

• After upgrading to ASE SP04 PL05
• A transaction sequence that worked in an older release, raises an error, no longer completes or returns incorrect number of rows
• A process no longer correctly commits the transaction, which can show through an application error, incorrect result set or a 'silent' failure when a transaction is rolled back.
  
  
• The ASE log may show message
  Transaction count after EXECUTE indicates that a COMMIT or ROLLBACK TRAN is missing. Previous count = 1, Current count = 0
  
  
• In SAP Data Services the issue shows by
  • Returning error 12104 when trying to log in with the DS Designer:
    
    ERROR: Sybase SQL Server <DS_ASE> error message for operation <ct_results>:

    Message Text is: A LOCK TABLE command is not allowed outside the scope of a transaction on table 'AL_USERS' in the database 'DS_DBNAME'.
    
    
  • Duplicate key error 2601 being returned unexpectedly
    
    Cannot save <Text> for repository object <Language Object subvar_store>.

• Error 7129 is returned
  • This is linked particularly with Murex application / Murex migration script :
    
    SYBASE-7129:
    Number = 7129, Severity = 16, State = 1, Line = 1, Message = Synchronization time stamp does not agree with text data page value.

• SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) SP04 PL05 only
  • The issue is not limited to SAP Data Services, but this product is likely to encounter it on above ASE release
