3447657 - Use of special character as dimension in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).

Error : Special characters are not allowed. Use alphanumeric characters only, without spaces; Can only begin with a letter, when creating a dimension in the public dimension table in SAC.

SAP Analytics Cloud 2024.2.8

1. Login to SAC
2. Go to Modeler
3. Under Public Dimension Tables, create a new dimension table
4. In the dimension name. use any special character for example asterisk '*'

Notice that the name will be highlighted in red with the following error message : Special characters are not allowed. Use alphanumeric characters only, without spaces; Can only begin with a letter.

This behaviour is by design.

While creating dimension name, only alphanumeric characters without spaces are allowed.
