Symptom

  • In Chart and Tables, positive or negative sign displays only for value near zero.
  • How to show positive ( + ) or negative ( - ) sign for all the values on a Chart, or Table, on a Story in SAP Analytics Cloud?

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud 2024.2.8

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a Story in SAP Analytics Cloud.
  2. Add a Chart, or a Table based on a Model that contains negative and positive values.
  3. Notice positive (+), or negative (-) sign displays for values close to zero, but not for the other values.

Cause

  • By design, when a value is close to zero, it shows a positive (+), or negative (-)  sign in a Table, and Charts. 

Resolution

  • To always show a positive, or negative sign for all the values on a Chart, or Table, set the Number Format option : "Show Sign As",  to: " + / - "
       
    1. Login to SAP Analytics Cloud, and open the Story in Edit mode.
    2. Select the Chart, or one of the value on a Table.
    3. In the Right side Panel, select the tab: "Styling"
    4. Scroll-Down to the "Number Format" options.
    5. Set the Number Format option: "Show Sign As", to: + / -
