Symptom
The system is currently not generating a purchase proposal ID, which is causing an issue in generating purchase requests through the automated purchase proposal run.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Supply Control workcenter
- Go to Automated Actions view and select Release Purchase Proposal Runs sub view.
- Edit the required Run ID.
- Under Selection Criteria, open the required Application log.
- Under general tab, there shows "Number of selected purchase proposals is 0 ".
- Then go to Supply Control work center and select Monitor Purchase Requests view.
- Search for relevant purchase request ID.
- Here no corresponding purchase request generated against the required product.
Cause
The reason for this issue is that the product's master data shows that the procurement type is Internal Procurement instead of External Procurement for the planning area in question.
Additionally, the planning procedure is set to manual planning. This means that purchase proposals for this product need to be created manually. To release the manually created purchase proposal, it can be done through a release run, which will then release it to a purchase request.
Resolution
We would suggest that you review and update your planning procedure according to your specific business needs. This can be done by running the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) process or maintaining a job to run MRP in the system.
Once the MRP process is completed, purchase proposals will be generated by the system and can be released via run accordingly.
We recommend reviewing and updating planning procedure to align with your business needs. It can be done by running the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) process or setting up a job to run MRP in the system. After the MRP process finishes, the system generates purchase proposals, which can be released as needed.
