Symptom
The profitability segment field values (COPA attribute) are not populated for revenue recognition postings of EPPM projects with the scenario of multiple sales order items.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud
Cause
For enterprise projects with direct revenue, you can either have a scenario with one sales order item or a multiple sales order items scenario.
This is determined by the flag Multiple Sales Order Items Scenario at the project creation stage.
If this is a scenario with one sales order item, only one pricing and billing sales order item can be assigned to a billing element. The profitability attributes are derived from the unique pricing and billing sales order item.
If this is a scenario with multiple sales order items, more than one pricing and billing relevant sales order item can be assigned to a billing element.
The profitability characteristics are not automatically derived anymore.
Resolution
For the multiple sales order items scenario, the settlement rule for Profitability Segment (PSG) should be maintained first for the project.
Afterwards, the relevant PSG attributes could be derived automatically for revenue recognition postings from the project settlement rule.
For the original entries where the profitability data is missing, you can perform a realignment to supplement the data with the information that has been updated in the settlement rule.
