3449395 - Unified Report- Israel

Symptom

  • When running the Unified reporting for Israel there are two topics that need additional explanations:
    A) The generated txt files (INI and BKMVDATA) show different codes for the first and last record type.
    B) The representation of the sign of the credit amount in the Trial balance and the Unified report is different.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

Issue A.)

  1. Go to the General Ledger Work Center.
  2. Go to the Unified Reporting Israel view.
  3. Show all runs, then highlight run ID XXX (where XXX is the Reporting Run ID).
  4. Under Details highlight application log ID YYY (where YYY is the application log ID).
  5. Click on button "View Report Run Results".
  6. Switch to tab Attachments.
  7. Under File type click on the PDF document name ABC (where ABC is the PDF document name).
  8. In the first column you can see A100, B100...Z900.
  9. Now close the pdf.
  10. Download the INI file (which is in txt format) and open it in a txt editor.
You can see in the INI txt file that the first line is A000 which is wrong, it should be A100 as shown in the pdf. And the last line Z900 is missing in the INI txt file completely. Expected would be that Z900 is shown both in the PDF and in the INI txt file.

Issue B.)

  1. Go to the General Ledger Work Center.
  2. Go to the Reports - List view.
  3. Open the report Trial Balance (report ID: FINGLAU01_Q0001).
  4. Enter the respective variables.
  5. Start the Report.
  6. Filter for example for gl account ZZZ (where ZZZ is the gl account ID).
You can see that the Credit Amount Company Currency AAA shows as positive (where AAA is the Credit Amount in Israeli Shequels). You would expect the amount AAA to be negative. Expected would be that the amounts in the Trial Balance report match the BKMVDATA file however at the moment this is not the case.

Now when you

  1. Go to the General Ledger Work Center.
  2. Go to the Unified Reporting Israel view.
  3. Show all runs then highlight run ID XXX.
  4. Under Details highlight Application Log ID YYY.
  5. Click on the button "View Report Run Results".
  6. Switch to tab Attachments.
  7. Download BKMVDATA and open the file in a txt editor and use encoding character set Hebrew.
  8. Search for "B110".
  9. Now search for the relevant gl account ZZZ.
The total credit amount from column 308 to column 322 is -AAA which is correct since it is negative (in credit).

Cause

For the issue A.) concerning the ini.txt file:

we have checked this with Local Product Management and in the structure the name begins with A000 (not A100) and there is no such last line as Z900 (it ends with M100). This can be seen in your ini.txt file in your system. Here we can see that A100 and Z900 are not there which is correct.

For the issue B.): Different +/- sign in the Trial Balance Report respectively in the BKMVDATA file:

The Trial Balance and the Unified Report are different representations of the same content, and the credit amounts are specified in a different way. Therefore there are different signs.

What you are calculating is the following:

Ending Balance = Opening Balance + Debit Balance - Credit Balance. This is the general formula.

However the system already considers the Credit Balance with a - sign. Therefore according to your calculation you do the following:
Ending Balance = Opening Balance + Debit Balance - (-) Credit Balance it gives a plus.

So you should calculate as follows:
Ending Balance = Opening Balance + Debit Balance + (-) Credit Balance which gives the correct result since the Credit Balance has systemwise a (-) sign already.

Navigate to the G/L accounts line items report and enter the same parameters:

To understand the ‘Credit Balance’ display behaviour, you will be able to find the ‘Credit Amount Company Currency’ and the ‘Balance Company Currency’ in G/L Accounts Line Items report.
The Original Amount is  -CCC ILS as can be seen at ‘Balance Company Currency’ (where -CCC ILS is the Balance in Company Currency). Here the minus (-) sign is displayed.
The ‘Credit Amount Company Currency’ is displayed as CCC ILS, as is displayed without a negative (-) sign.

You can check the corresponding Journal Entry in the system, you will find the same result. In the Journal Entry you can see GL Account DDD (where DDD is the gl account ID) with Credit in Company Currency which is EEE ILS (where EEE is the Credit Amount in Company Currency) and one line below you can see the Company Currency amount of -EEE ILS. It is as we said:
the Credit in company currency in the system in this case always means minus (-) sign. In your formula you don´t need to add another minus (-) sign because (-) and (-) adds up to plus (+). That´s why you are getting the wrong result.

Resolution

The issue A.) with the ini.txt file this is as per definition from document from Local Product Management the correct system behaviour.

The issue B.) with the Trial Balance Report and the BKMVDATA.txt file is also as per Development the desired system behaviour. Suggestion: Have the correct interpretation of the Credit Balance in B110 section of BKMVDATA.txt file and apply your formula to calculate the 'Ending Balance'.
