3451205 - Error Message "Invalid UID number" While Updating UID For Switzerland Country/Region for an Account

Symptom

When trying to save an Account with new UID number for Switzerland (Swiss) Country/Region, system throws error message below:

"Invalid UID number"

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Account Management work center.
  2. Select Accounts view.
  3. Select the account ABC (where ABC refers to the Account ID).
  4. Edit Account.
  5. Maintain UID number and save the changes.

Error: Invalid UID number

Cause

SAP Supports UID maintenance for Switzerland Account only in Specified format.

Resolution

Follow below Steps to Maintain the UID in General Tab View:

  1. Go to Account Management work center.
  2. Select Accounts view.
  3. Select the account ABC.
  4. Edit Account.
  5. Navigate to the General Tab.
  6. Maintain UID without punctuation marks (Example: CHE123456789).

Follow below Steps to Maintain the UID in Financial Data Tab View:

  1. Go to Account Management work center.
  2. Select Accounts view.
  3. Select the account ABC.
  4. Edit an Account.
  5. Navigate to Financial Data Tab. 
  6. Go to Tax Data Tab.
  7. Navigate to Tax Numbers Section.
  8. Select Add row.
  9. Choose Country/Region Switzerland.
  10. Go to Tax Number Type.
  11. Choose UID Number from drop down.
  12. Maintain UID with Punctuation marks (Example: CHE-123.456.789).
If the UID is desired to be maintained in a format other than the mentioned above, the tax number validation check can be disabled in the Business Configuration, and any value can be maintained by the system.

Steps to disable tax number validation check.

  1. Go to Business Configuration work center. 
  2. Navigate to Implementation Projects view.
  3. Choose First Implementation Project which is in Started Status.
  4. Select Open Activity List.
  5. Choose All Activities from dropdown.
  6. Search Countries/Regions.
  7. Select Open.
  8. Edit Countries/Regions.
  9. Select Countries/Regions as Switzerland.
  10. Navigate to Tax Attributes Tab.
  11. Uncheck Tax Fields Check Enabled.
  12. Select Save and Close.  

NOTE: SAP will NOT be responsible for any number getting maintained in the system once Tax Fields Check Enabled is unchecked.

This modification can be performed in the system according to the business needs.
