When attempting to delete a position, receive an error:

1. Log in to SuccessFactors
2. Navigate to Admin Center > Tools > Manage Data
3. In the first Search dropdown, select Position
4. In the second Search dropdown, select a position
5. Select Take Action > Permanently Delete Entry
6. Receive error

2. Navigate to Admin Center > Tools > Manage Positions
3. In the first Search dropdown, select Position
4. In the second Search dropdown, select a position
5. Select Take Action > Permanently Delete Entry

Nomination records are tied to the position

Positions cannot be deleted if an employee has ever been nominated to the position. This validation prevents the loss of nomination data, especially during data migration. You can use one of the below options:

Soft Delete a Position (Make Position Inactive)

To soft delete/inactivate a position, you can select the Delete option in the position card following the steps in Implementing and Managing Succession - Editing or Deleting MDF Positions from Position Card. This will deactivate the position, but it can be reactivated at a later time.

Permanently Delete a Position with Data Retention Management

To permanently delete a position with nomination records, you can purge it in Data Retention Management using the purge request type Purge Non-Sensitive MDF Business Data.
