3452272 - How to Trigger Email Notification to Initiator (Self) Upon Submitting an Absence Request

By default when submitting an absence request, the initiator/employee does not get an automatic email notification confirming their request. This is done on the UI only immediately after clicking on submit.

However, as an implementation partner or administrator, you have a business requirement to ensure that an email notification is sent to the requester (or indeed any other user) when employee submits an absence request, or any other type of request.

• Initiator creates an absence request
• Initiator does not get an email confirming their request

Custom configuration

• Need to configure own transaction processing to send email to initiator/employee

To get an email sent to the employee when they submit a request, please attempt the below configuration steps:

• • Caveat - this configuration is independent from the standard absence request workflow configuration

  • Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental

• 1-Configure the Alert Message
  • Ensure to add translations as necessary

• 2-Configure the Workflow which will notify the employee
  • CC only workflow for those to receive the notification (can be any user or multiple cc)

• 3- Configure the Rule to execute the notification process.
  • Use the rule for MDF Based Objects
  • Set this to trigger on postSave on the Time Off objects

• Result = the employee (and/or other cc) will receive an Email Notification.

In case the email is not sent, please ensure you use a rule trace log to check whether your conditions are met.

You can also determine the conditions according to your business requirements but it is important to use the absence classification to avoid unwanted alerts being triggered.
