Symptom
- Use the formula Lookup and Dynamic Time Navigation Function "Previous" to define a calculated measure in model
- Create an Optimized Design Experience mode story based on the model and insert a table containing date dimension into this Optimized story
- After drilling down the date dimension to the lowest level, observe that no calculated measure values would appear on the parent node of the date dimension and only diagonal line would appear in these cells
Environment
- SAP Analytics Cloud 2024.2.16
Reproducing the Issue
- Log on to SAC
- Open the sample model
- Open the Calculations Workspace, add a calculated measure "Lookup" in this model and define the calculation as "LOOKUP([Measure] ,[d/Date]=Previous("Year",1))")
- Create an Optimized Design Experience mode story based on the above model
- Insert a table into this story and add the Date dimension as well as Measure "Lookup" (namely the calculated measure defined in model) in this table
- Click on the three dot graph button beside the table and select Drill to drill down the Date dimension to the lowest level "Level 4"
=> Observe that values of this calculated measure "Lookup" would appear on the Month level (namely the lowest level of Date dimension), while no calculated measure value would appear on the Year or Half-Year level and only diagonal line would appear in these cells
Cause
- This is currently a by designed behavior.
- The calculated measure containing function "Previous Year" has "Required Dimensions" set to include the "Date" dimension in the model.
- The "Required Dimensions" list is used to check for the "Minimum Drill" required for data to be shown. As soon as a hierarchical dimension is included (e.g. "Date"), the lowest level of the hierarchy is required to display the data. This can be achieved by drilling or by creating single value filters on the lowest level members.
Resolution
- This is currently a by designed behavior.
