Symptom

You try to add another Profit Center assignment to a Fixed Cost Object that already holds a Profit Center and you receive the error:

Environment

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Cost and Revenue work center.
  2. Select the view Free Cost Objects.
  3. Search and find XYZ (XYZ represents the Cost Object ID).
  4. Select Edit.
  5. Go to the Assignments Tab.
  6. Under Organizational Assignment select Add Row.
  7. Enter a line for the second Profit Center.
  8. Select save.

Error Appears: 
Change to profit center assignment not possible; Used in fixed assets 

Cause

System functionality does not allow the assignment of a free cost object with multiple profit centres assigned.

Resolution

Create a new Free Cost Object for the Profit Center with the validity required.
