Symptom

In the Account Hierarchies view, users encounter an error when attempting to input a node ID exceeding 10 digits. The error message displayed is: "ID xxxxxxxxxxx not Within a Permitted Number Range; Permitted Ranges are 1-999999999 and A-ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ".

 
 
 
 
 
 

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Account Management workcenter
  2. Go to Account Hierarchies view
  3. Select New -> Hierarchy
  4. Enter the Node ID upto 11/12 digits
  5. Select Save

Observe the error: 

ID xxxxxxxxxxx not within a permitted number range; permitted ranges are 1-999999999 and A-ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Save failed

Cause

Extending the number of digits entered in the Node ID is not feasible, as per the system constraints.

Resolution

According to our standard system design, the number range for the Account hierarchy allows for up to 10 digits when the Node ID is manually entered. However, when the node ID is entered in alphanumeric format, it can accommodate up to 20 characters.
