3454453 - Different browser is being invoked from SAP GUI for Windows when calling third party external documents

When calling an HTML content from an application through SAP GUI for Windows, a different browser is being invoked even though the desired browser control is set correctly in SAP Logon options (SAP GUI options dialog> "Interaction Design">"Control Settings"). 

For instance, the Edge (based on Chromium) is set as default browser control but when calling an external HTML content through an application running inplace SAP GUI , the Internet Explorer is being invoked. When collecting a trace for the before-mentioned scenario, the following records would appear:
