3454712 - How to identify which font types are used in PDF files

Symptom

If the display of text in e.g. a Preview of a document differs from the display in Adobe Lifecycle Designer, the related PDF may contain not supported font types.  A simple option to find out which fonts are used in a PDF is described below:

Environment

  • SAP Business ByDesign
  • SAP Cloud for Customer

Resolution

Prerequisite: You are using Acrobat Reader.

  1. Open the PDF document in the Acrobat Reader, not in the browser version
  2. Click somewhere in the document and select Ctrl + D
  3. Select the Fonts tab
  4. Check the font types that appear in the lists *

Note: Helvetica and MyriadPro are the fonts that are used to display text that was created with non supported fonts. In case you find not supported font types below Helvetica and MyriadPro, this means that the document includes these font types, but they cannot be displayed and Helvetica respectively MyriadPro are used to replace them.
