3454955 - Limitations With Mid-Period Policy Profile Changes

Symptom

Whenever possible, the best practice in WT&A is to have a policy profile change take place on the first day of a period. This allows for a clean, easy transition in the system and leads to the best experience for users. Unfortunately, this is not always possible as changes in position, location, and whatever else drives the policy profiles, may not always fall exactly on a period change. Policy profile changes are possible in the middle of a period, but they have a number of limitations which are important to understand. This article will summarize the limitations, and link to further details where appropriate.

NOTE: This does not apply to policy profile changes which result in split assignments. In that situation, the current assignment ends and a new one starts, which leads to a clean transition.
