3456038 - Error When Trying to Invoice a Sales Order or Canceling a Contract

You are trying to Invoice a Sales Order or performing the cancelation of a Contract, however the following error occurs:

The data of the selected business partner cannot be displayed anymore for data privacy reasons.
It might be that the data is blocked for usage, depersonalized or deleted.
Please approach your data privacy team.

Or:

Using business partner XYZ not permitted; status in master data Not Active (KBA:2927824)

SAP Business ByDesign.

1. Go to the Sales Orders work center.
2. Then go to the Contracts view.
3. Show All Contracts.
4. Search for the affected Contract ID.
5. Click Edit and go to Renewal and Cancellation tab.
6. Under Cancellation section, set the details to cancel the contract.
7. Click Save.
8. Error occurs.

The error message is occurring because the Business Partner was Obsoleted by the Data Protection and Privacy functionality.

This is the expected system behavior, as the Business Partner is obsolete the mentioned error message will appear.

In order to fix this error, you can either change the Business Partner in the document or maintain the Business Partner active again by following the steps below:

1. Go to the Information Lifecycle Management work center.
2. Then go to the Business Partners view.
3. Search for the  required ID.
4. Click the link with the ID.
5. Click View All.
6. Change Status > Active.
